
King Saud University was established by King Saud bin Abdulaziz in 1957, as Saudi Arabia's first university. From 1964 it took the name of Riyadh University before reverting too its original name in 1982. In 2023 it became an independent, non-profit making academic institution. The Department of Architecture was formed in 1968, within the College of Engineering, but was expanded in 1984 to for its own College of Architecture and Planning.
This college was initially established as a department in the College of Engineering in 1968. It was extended as a college in 1984 to include the department of "Urban Planning".
tudents began studying at the College of Arts in the 1957–58 academic year. Since then KSU developed further according to the needs of the nation.
