Founded in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1953, by Louis Berger (1914-1996), the company started as a civil engineering consultancy but expanded rapidly internationally in the 1960s, employing around 6,000 staff in over 50 countries worldwide, at its later peak. Today known as the Louis Berger Group, it describes itself as an international multidisciplinary company in engineering advice, specializing in the following sectors: Transport Infrastructure, Water & Sanitation, Environment, Mobility and Urban Development.
