The University of Manitoba, in Winnipeg, Canada, was founded in 1877. Architecture was first taught from 1913, in the form of a four year degree within the Faculty of Arts. A Faculty of Engineering and Architecture was established in 1920 and in 1949 a re-organsiation which was, in turn, replaced by School of Architecture and Fine Arts. In 1948, the entire school was reorganized with the formation of a School of Architecture and lengthening of the degree course to 5 years. In 1963 the architecture school was once more re-organised and became the Faculty of Architecture, the professional degree course now supplemented by a two-year graduate Masters of City Planning degree.
