The British government's Ministry of Overseas Development' was established in the mid 1960s, taking over the role of the Department of Technical Cooperation, alongside the overseas aid functions of a number of other UK government departments, including the Colonial Offices and the Foreign and Commonwealth Relations Offices. In 1970 it was renamed the "Overseas Development Administration" (ODA) and incorporated into the Foreign Office. After being incorporated once more back into the Foreign Office the department became the Department for International Development in 1997 - which was, in turn, brought into the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office in 2020.
